Brian Selzler
LMSW, IBH Provider
My name is Brian Eugene Selzler, and I have dedicated my life to serving others with compassion, resilience, and leadership. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, a city that has shaped my identity and values through its diverse culture and strong sense of community. From an early age, I developed a passion for helping others, particularly those facing difficult circumstances, which led me toward a career in social work and public service. In May 2022, I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, graduating cum laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. My academic journey strengthened both my knowledge and my commitment to advocacy, equipping me with the skills to serve families, children, and vulnerable populations. I continued my education and pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) at the same institution, graduating in May 2025, also with a 3.6 GPA. My professional experience reflects my devotion to service. I began as an Intern at the Department of Family and Protective Services from 2021 to 2022, where I assisted in gathering vital case information, supporting investigators, and ensuring child safety. This role taught me the importance of crisis intervention, thorough communication, and empathy in high-stakes situations. In 2023, I transitioned to the Health and Human Services Commission, where I served as a Community Health Worker. In this capacity, I provided essential services to the elderly and disabled, supporting their daily needs while also monitoring their care and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. My work required diligence, patience, and cultural sensitivity, as I frequently communicated with provider agencies and conducted assessments to safeguard client well-being. Beyond my professional career, volunteerism has been an integral part of my life. Since 2015, I have accumulated more than 7,000 volunteer hours, primarily through leadership in the St. Mark Spanish Youth Group. For seven years, I organized weekly gatherings, special events, and retreats, while also offering spiritual and emotional guidance to young people. My service extended to projects such as feeding the homeless, supporting immigrant families, cleaning shelters, visiting children’s hospitals, and contributing to community improvement efforts across El Paso and beyond. Fluent in both English and Spanish, I value the ability to connect with diverse communities. My strengths—compassion, patience, organization, and leadership—are reflected not only in my professional and volunteer roles but also in my personal character. As I look toward the future, my goal is to continue advancing in the field of social work, advocating for underserved populations, and dedicating my skills to building stronger, more compassionate communities. My journey has been shaped by service, and I remain committed to a life centered on helping others and creating meaningful change.
