IOP

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is structured, part-time treatment program that provides intensive substance use therapy (usually 9+ hours/week) without 24-hour supervision. It acts as a bridge between traditional weekly therapy and inpatient care, allowing individuals to live at home while attending scheduled group/individual sessions.

MAT is the use of medications to treat substance use disorders, including opioid and alcohol.  It can include case management, therapy and peer support.

  • Real-World Application: Individuals can immediately apply skills learned in treatment to their daily lives.

Components:

  • Structure: 3 hours of group, 3 days a week, and individual therapy
    as clinically indicated.
  • Therapeutic Focus: Group counseling and individual therapy focused
    on early recovery, relapse prevention, family education, and social support.
  • Flexibility: Group sessions are offered in the mornings and afternoons
    to accommodate work, school, or family commitments.
  • Duration: 16 weeks, depending on individual progress.

Who is IOP for?

  • IOP is suitable for individuals who need significant support but do not require 24-hour, 7-day-a-week medical supervision. It is commonly used for:
  • Step-down care: Following completion of inpatient, residential, or partial hospitalization programs (PHP).
  • Step-up care: When traditional weekly outpatient
